A Legacy

Mitch McConnell was first elected to the United States Senate in 1984.  From 2007 to 2025, 18 years, Mitch has been either Majority Leader or Minority Leader, Minority Leder 2007-2015, Majority Leader 2015-2021 and Minority Leader 2021-2025.

Mitch Connell has done everything possible to defeat Medicare and Obamacare at every turn and every vote.

Throughout his tenure Mitch has brought to the floor of the Senate the most far right candidates  to become members of the Supreme Court.  Using deft procedural moves Mitch controlled which witnesses would appear before these Senate hearings toward the advantage of his handpicked candidates.

In 2008 McConnell stated that his efforts would be toward making President Obama a one term President.

The question is… Would a superior intelligence ever adopt such a far-right political stance?

Almost every country in the European Union provides some form of universal health coverage, but the extent and structure vary quite a bit from one nation to another.

All EU countries aim to ensure that citizens have access to essential healthcare services without financial hardship. Most systems are publicly funded, either through taxation or mandatory health insurance contributions. Healthcare is generally considered a right, not a privilege.

Australia has a universal health care system known as Medicare. Established in 1984, Medicare provides free or low-cost access to a wide range of health care services for all Australian citizens, permanent residents, and some visitors from countries with reciprocal agreements .

Medicare covers the cost of public hospital services, medical services provided by general practitioners (GPs) and specialists, and certain other health services such as physiotherapy and community nursing . Additionally, the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS) helps make prescription medicines more affordable .Australia’s health care system operates under a shared public-private model. While public health facilities are operated by state and territory governments and provide free care to eligible patients, private health insurance is also available and encouraged through tax incentives . This dual system ensures that Australians have access to comprehensive health care services, contributing to one of the longest life expectancies in the world .

Canada also has a universal health care system, which is funded through taxes. This means that any Canadian citizen or permanent resident can apply for public health insurance. Each province and territory have theirs own health plan that covers different services and products .

Once you are registered with your province or territory’s health system, you will receive a health card. This card allows you to access non-emergency services at hospitals or medical clinics without having to pay out-of-pocket bills. In general, public health insurance covers most health care services, including emergency medical services .

Canada’s health care system is known as Medicare, and it covers essential medical services to combat health disparities in society. However, there may be waiting times for non-emergency treatments, and private medical insurance may be necessary for additional coverage .

So, Senator McConnell must know something that no one in all these other countries do NOT know.  I think Mitch would have shared such knowledge by now  if only he could.

You might just be able to define know-it-alls and authoritarians as those who do NOT profess the existence of superior intelligence beyond their own.  You think!?

Mitch will almost certainly retire from the Senate and not seek re-election in 2026 marking 42 years in the Senate.  His legacy is likely to be associated with the condition of the Republican Party at that time, which may have a lasting impact.
